The name of this podcast doesn't really make much sense unless you know the history of how the podcast was created.

Skip Orem is a "serial podcaster".  His flag ship podcast Get Fit Pod, is an exercise, fitness and nutrition podcast listened to by over 1200 loyal listeners and growing each week.  One of the hallmarks of Get Fit Pod is it's great music which is used for mini-workouts and workout episodes.  After the close of each of these episodes Skip plays one or two of what he calls "after the close" songs.  These songs are  to help transition the listener away from the intensity of the fitness podcast and it's workouts.

Skip gets almost as many e-mails each week about the music played on Get Fit Pod as he does about the fitness and nutrition topics he discusses on each episode.  Many of the listeners look forward to the "after the close" songs that are played at the end of the episode and they are especially interested in the new musical artists who perform them.

Because Skip always strives to "give these crazy listeners what they want", and because he loves music, he created GFP-fm-an easy listening music podcast.

At first, Skip wanted to call this podcast GetFitPod-fm. Honoring its Get Fit Pod roots, while the "fm" indicated it was about easy listening music. That didn't really make much sense.  After all, there is nothing on this podcast about fitness.  So Skip just went with the initials- GFP-fm.  What's in a name, anyway?

Oh, and who is that girl in our logo and on our album cover artwork.  She doesn't have a name, but she loves the new easy listening music we play.  And, her look kind of defines what GFP-fm is all about -listening to great music.

We would like to give her a name, any suggestions?, send them to skip@gfm-fm.com

Welcome to GFP-fm.  Our first podcast was released on April 15,2008.  There will be a new one released on the 15th and last day of each month. My goal with this podcast is to help you transition form what ever intense activity you are involved in to your more relaxed mellow time of the day. And, I'm going to do that by introducing you to some great new easy listening music.

You may need this transition period because you've just completed a workout, a long commute home in traffic, maybe you just finished putting the kids in bed and asleep, or perhaps you just need to mellow out your mood for whatever reason.  Trust me, if you love good music and want to spend a few minutes relaxing, you will enjoy this podcast.

There is a wealth of great, new, undiscovered musical talent out there and I will introduce you to many of these new artists and their music.  I will also make it easy for you to add this music to your current music library or collection.

On this web page, there will always be a running itunes, imix playlist of all the songs we have played so far on GFP-fm.  That will make it easy for you to go directly to itunes and add any songs you like to your collection.  I will also provide an alternate listing of artists who do not yet have their music in the itunes catalog.  This listing will provide you with links directly to you artist so that you can learn more about them and obtain their music.  Both of these listings will continue to grow as we introduce you to more and more new easy listening artists.

The GFP-fm Playlist of Songs Available From itunes

April 15, 2008 -4:10am

I just completed recording and post production of the premier episode of GFPfm.  It's cool to hear this great music in the late night/early morning hours alone in my studio. What a great selection of music artists for this first podcast.  All my favorites are on board, Sera, Chris Yale, The ClintonsRyan Shupe, The Clintons, Joe Colledge, The Lascivious Biddies, Adrina Thorpe, and This Spy Surfs.  I hope I didn't go to over the top with my reading of the lyrics to Round the Bend, forgive me Adrina. Thanks again to the musical artists who made their music available for this premier episode of GFfm.  I mentioned on the podcast that I found a video of Coney Island Day on the web, here's the link.  Next episode scheduled for the end of the month.
